1970's- Halston

HALSTON AND THE 1970'S

Halston is best known for his minimalism to fashion in that he cut out everything but the bare essentials to create his designs. He used buttons and zippers sparingly and cut many pieces of fabric at 45degree angles to receive biased draped looks with silk like fabrics. He also popularized the shirtwaist dress, one shoulder garments, jumpsuits and halters. Ultrasuede wasn't used much in the 70's for clothing until Halston made this fabric useful for beautiful models and famous socialites. His garments were solid colors usually that hugged the body for beauty. His designs were classic and still look modern in the 21st Century.
